VCalendar Support

The vCalendar specifications are designed to allow the transfer of calendaring and scheduling information between different applications. The dbiAppointmentItem supports a subset of vCalendar event properties. A typical vCalendar event may look like the following:

BEGIN:VCALENDAR

VERSION:2.0

UID:JFHK339

BEGIN:VEVENT

DTSTART:19980402T103000

DTEND:19980402T113000

DESCRIPTION:Meeting in the board room

END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR

Creating an Appointment from a vCalendar String

One of the constructors in the dbiAppointmentItem class accepts a singles string. It is assumed that this string conforms to the vCalendar specifications. A new Dbi appointment item object can be created from a vCalendar string by using the following code where m_strVCal represents a vCalendar string.

[VB.NET]

Dim objAppoint As New Dbi.PIM.dbiAppointmentItem(m_strVCal)

[C#]

Dbi.PIM.dbiAppointmentItem objAppoint = new Dbi.PIM.dbiAppointmentItem(m_strVCal);

The developer also has the option of setting the VCalendar property of the dbiAppointmentItem class to a vCalendar string.

[VB.NET]

Dim objAppoint As New Dbi.PIM.dbiAppointmentItem

objAppoint.VCalendar = m_strVCal

[C#]

Dbi.PIM.dbiAppointmentItem objAppoint = new Dbi.PIM.dbiAppointmentItem();

objAppoint.VCalendar = m_strVCal;

NOTE : The developer can read the VCalendar format of the appointment through this property as well.

m_strVCal = objAppoint.VCalendar

The following vCalendar properties are supported in the dbiAppointmentItem class.
